A Letter From Becky
I’ve been a leader for over 30 years, a recruiter for 27, and a coach for professionals navigating reinvention, uncertainty, and everything in between.
I know what feeling stuck in a role you’ve outgrown is like. To question whether you’ve lost your edge or whether you just need space to breathe and think clearly again. To ask, “Is this really it?” even when everything on paper looks like success.
That crossroads, where who you are and what you do stop feeling aligned, is where I do my best work.
I created Positive Career Advice in 2018, initially as a way of giving back. I was frustrated watching so many talented people navigate career transition alone, unsure where to turn or how to begin. I started writing free guides, publishing blogs, and eventually delivered over 300 free webinars to an international audience on career development and job-seeking support.
And here’s what I learned:
You can start with what you think people need, but real value only comes when you truly listen. The pain points, the fear, the exhaustion, the need for clarity, not more noise.
I rewrote my content repeatedly to reflect that. No two journeys are the same, and no one wants a one-size-fits-all approach when they’re stuck or overwhelmed. That belief sits at the heart of how I coach.
Over the past 30 years, I’ve supported thousands of professionals through career changes, leadership challenges, business pivots, and personal reinvention. I’ve worked with individuals and businesses across sectors, been invited onto podcasts to speak about leadership, career transition, inclusion, and women’s health, and partnered with organisations to elevate how they engage and support talent.
Alongside my coaching work, I lead the DEI strategy at Tate and continue to champion menopause awareness, speaking out before it was widely discussed and helping create meaningful resources that sparked real change.
I’m also a certified NLP practitioner, and I’m currently completing my ILM Level 7 in Executive Coaching and Mentoring. I believe in always evolving and want to serve my clients even better, not because I need a qualification to prove my worth.
I wrote and designed every word and section of Reimagine Work because how we connect matters. Along the way, I’ve used the support around me, working with a coach and a mentor - an experienced senior marketer, and using AI tools to help refine and strengthen my message. I believe we all do our best work when we’re supported to bring out the best in ourselves. That’s what coaching is all about.
And outside of work? I’m a proud mum of five (including three brilliant stepchildren) and live with a lively springer spaniel named Molly, who keeps life interesting. I’ve supported each of my children with job searching and career direction. It’s just part of who I am.
When I’m not coaching or creating resources to help people thrive at work, you’ll usually find me in our VW campervan heading off for a weekend of space, stillness, and the occasional mountain climb (when my nose isn’t in the BBQ or a glass of wine). And if I’m not cooking, climbing, or coaching. I’m probably curled up with a book on personal growth. I genuinely love this stuff.
And if you’re reading this and wondering if you’re “ready” for coaching, here’s what I’ll say:
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You just need to know something’s not working the way it used to.
You don’t have to do this alone.
